Mudcrete Blocks Workshop
Mawal | 2024
Duration
2 Days

This workshop was held near Mawal Taluka, Pune, where we introduced Mud Concrete as a sustainable solution for sites abundant in Murum or gravel. The technique, akin to traditional cement concrete, replaces much of the cement with a carefully chosen soil mixture. The mix is prepared in a pan mixer, after which blocks measuring 12" X 9" X 6" are molded. The mix design is rigorously tested in a Government-approved laboratory following all the IS Codes to ensure its strength and stability.

Once the mix is poured into the mold, the blocks are allowed to set for 15 to 30 minutes before the mold is removed. The blocks are then cured in place until they reach their final hardness. This method is highly adaptable and can be quickly grasped by new teams, making it an effective technique for sustainable construction.
