Yona Pavilion - Bamboo Workshop

NO SKILLED LABOUR, ONLY SKILLED STUDENTS
Pune Biennale to be held from 05-01-2017 to 29-01-2017 at various locations across the city. One of the installations of the event is YONA FRIEDMAN PAVILLION to be installed at Mahatma Phule Museum on Ghole Road.
The design of this pavillion is concieved by Ar. Yona Friedman who is a Hungary born French architect and artist.
Design of the pavillion was further appropriated and detailed out for its installation by Ar. Rohan A. Nahar and Ar. Minal Sagare (Faculty members from PVPCOA) based on the design vocabulory of Museum of Simple Technology, Chennai designed by Yona Friedman himself and the manual of his other works under the guidance of Ar. Mayank Barjatya appointed by Pune Biennale Foundation.
On site it was executed by 50 students ( 19- 3rd year 19 - 2nd year 10 - 1st year ) of VIT's PVPCOA Pune headed by Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai.
It was executed under the leadership of Ar. Rohan A Nahar over a span of 6 days from 29th Dec 2016 to 3rd Jan 2017.
It was built using bamboo and was amalgamating the local art of cane weaving taking inspiration from Burud Community from Pune who specialises in bamboo work.
The Pavillion will be used for various art related debate & discussions organised during the duration of Pune Biennale 2017 event.
