Skyfold House
Bhusawal | 2019
Area
1800 sq.ft.
The form of this house is a direct result of climatic considerations. Located near Bhusawal, the site experiences extreme heat, with summer temperatures reaching up to 48°C. Additionally, the client faced the issue of monkeys damaging the Mangalore tile roofing. Due to this, the client strongly insisted on using an RCC roof.
To address both the temperature and the roofing challenge, we designed and oriented the RCC roofs in a way that effectively reduced the internal temperature of the house by 7-8°C, as confirmed by the client's family. This project was an exciting opportunity to use RCC roofing consciously, turning a typically rigid material into a thoughtful response to extreme weather conditions.
