This house was our response to the growing but unfortunate trend of loud, imposing buildings on the hills. The design philosophy was to create a humble structure (at a human scale) that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, offering a humble entry and positioning the house to frame the Rajgad hills in the distance, at the foothills of which it sits. This house is a re-interpretaiton of a Traditional Wada house being deconstructed taking into account hints of the site - thereby creating some very unique experiences.
The house is aligned parallel to the contours, allowing for sweeping views of the Bhatghar dam and Rajgad. The living room is bathed in soft, comfortable north light, thanks to a long skylight, while each room offers a sense of privacy.
The clients have shared consistent, positive feedback from those who have rented the property, many of whom return frequently to enjoy the serene environment.
